Lassi

Lassi is the number one destination for holiday makers on the island. In the summer it is flooded with tourists bustling along the streets and occupying the considerable variety of restaurants, bars, hotels. Everything the visitor needs can be found here so the visitor does not go far. Some of the most beautiful beaches on the island can be found here making it a very popular place for visitors and locals alike.

Makris Gialos-Platis Gialos

As mentioned before Lassi is known for its beautiful beaches namely that of Makris and Platis Gialos. Essentially it is a long beach which is separated by a cluster of rocks. The spotless golden sands and beautiful blue waters of the Ionian are some of the elements that make them widely known. These beaches are very well organized for the tourist housing canteens, sun beds, umbrellas and showers. Also there are many water sports for the visitor to enjoy. In August it is hard to find a free spot of sand as the beaches, especially Makris Gialos are extremely crowded.

Light House "Agion Theodoron"

Just out side of Lassi along the back road toward Argostoli, can be found the Fanari light house called ‘Aghia Theodori’. Located 3 km away from Argostoli it is visible from the boats that operate from Argostoli across to Lixouri. The lighthouse was built in the early 19th century when the island was under the command of Charles Napier, and it was deemed necessary for navigation. It is a circular building with twenty columns housed in a small tower. In 1953, the year of the earthquake the lighthouse was destroyed and it was rebuilt in 1964 under the original plans. The view from the Fanari is magnificent as from the front you can see across to the Palikis Peninsular and the island of Vardianon.
